Creative Mind: Driving the Future
Russian creativity is unique.
Russia has always been an infinite source of great creative minds, inventors, artists and musicians who have been brought to this world over the course of several centuries. From the Russian writer Tolstoy, the Russian scientist Mendeleev and the artists of the Russian avant-garde art scene Kandinsky and Rodchenko right to the famous engineers Sikorsky and Korolev — they all created something that we cannot imagine our life without. And some things remain unchanged — Russian creativity keeps inspiring people around the world today.
Let’s not forget that 100 years ago Russia was considered to be a source of inspiration and everything new, exciting and progressive — Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, Sergei Eisenstein’s cinema, Stanislavski’s theatre and famous avant-garde artists Larionov and Malevich and, of course, discoveries made by Pavlov, Bekhterev and Mechnikov — this is only a small part of the endless list of remarkable achievements of the Great Russians.
That is how creativity, thinking outside-the-box, pioneering inventions and inspiring unpredictability became the main advantages of the Russians in the market of creative industries.
Nowadays, the share of creative industries in the economy of Russia’s large cities can be compared to today’s numbers in Europe’s cities. For example, 19% of the market in Moscow belongs to creative economy and though the number in Saint Petersburg is a bit lower — 12% — it still remains very impressive. Moreover, today we can find creative communities formed not only in cities but also in different regions of Russia.
Join us in the Russian Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai and you will hear stories about Russia’s scientific and cultural heritage carefully preserved over the course of the last centuries. Moreover, you will also see works of the brightest minds behind the latest cutting-edge technologies made in Russia and aimed at making our future better.
Exposition
Our cultures and societies are all different, but there is something crucial that we all share. It is the human brain, a true miracle that makes us who we are, connects our minds, and creates our future. It is the science of the brain that will bring us the most important discoveries of the 21st century. These discoveries will have a deep impact on our consciousness and our minds, and will transform our lives. Hence “The Mechanics of Wonder”, an invitation to a journey through the inner workings of the human brain — and a tribute to this masterpiece of the Universe. Our brain teaches us an important lesson: billions of nerve cells, as peculiar as they are, come together to build the mind, which is sustainable, mobile, and presents us with endless opportunities. Nature can do it, and so can we. Hence the “Mechanics of Wonder,” a call for human cooperation for the sake of our common future.
2021 was officially declared the International Year of Creative Economy by the UN! Come and you will see with your own eyes what Russia has to offer.
